What are the medical issues/effects related to Brain Injury

The impairments associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI) are unique, and vary from case to case. They depend on the nature of the injury, the severity of the injury, the age of the injured party and their physiology.

So, although TBI will not affect two people the same way, the same general types of impairments and disability profiles are seen in people suffering from TBI. This makes it possible for us to generalize in this section of the Goldfinger Guide.

The most common, persistent, and problematic issues occurring after TBI are learning and behavioural problems directly related to the brain injury. These problems are discussed in greater detail in the Goldfinger Guide.

The most common long term medical problems which occur as a result of brain injury are neurological (meaning impacting the brain). Types of neurological problems include, but are not limited to post-concussion syndrome (think Sydney Crosby), headaches, seizures, hydrocephalus, headaches, and motor (movement) impairments.
